Buckets of Thanks
“Buckets of Thanks” to ALL who contributed items for the Flood Buckets. We completed 37 buckets which are ready for distribution to the flood victims. Additional thanks to those who helped fill them: Barbara Johnson, Jimmie Sears, Margaret Bonifield, Pat Wonderly, and Sara and Samantha Miller. You are all a blessing! Dorthy Lynch and Bobbi Pinkerton.
Thank You for Recycling!
Remember to save: Newspapers, Magazines, Shopping Catalogs, Junk Mail, Office and School Papers, and White Envelopes – with and without windows. Then bring them to the green and yellow Abitibi Paper Retriever bin located in the back of our west parking lot. Together we can be good environmental stewards and raise some money, too.
Volunteers Needed
There Is a Huge Need for Volunteers in Iowa and Missouri. It would be great if our church could come up with a couple more teams for these regions. Here is a part of the email Charlie Collins, Mission Chair, received from OKVIM's Richard Norman:
TO ALL OK VIM VOLUNTEERS: The call for our help in the central US continues! Last week I sent you an email with a plea for assistance, in response to the devastating flooding in the Midwest, from our friends in IOWA. Today I received a request for assistance, highlighted below, from our neighbors in MISSOURI:
Now is the time to begin looking at how God would have you serve those who have been devastated by these enormous far reaching floods. This is going to be one of the largest and widespread requests for assistance we have ever received.
Missouri VIM: Volunteer teams are needed for clean-up after flood -- Photo of the Week, Aerial Flood Photos. We want to thank the State Emergency Management Agency for our Photo(s) of the Week: Missouri VIM: www.umocm.com .
Clean-up operations are starting in some communities. Other communities are waiting for the waters to subside before clean-up can begin. Recovery and rebuilding will continue for the rest of the year and beyond. Hundreds of Volunteers in Mission teams are needed.
Contact Charlie Collins, 577-2530, for more information about getting a team together to help these areas.
